Table of Contents

Marie Baronnet
Forced March
Throughout the 2010s, she documented the U.S.-Mexico border. Her determined work led her to cross paths with ruthless smugglers, human rights activists, sheriffs, white supremacists, forensic doctors, and countless families marching toward the elusive “American Dream”.

Peter Lindbergh
Mirror Images
An undisputed icon of fashion photography, the German master had been working on a comprehensive retrospective of his work – 140 photographs – shortly before his passing in 2019.

Celine Croze
Looking into the Darkness
She lives on the edge, constantly balancing on the precipice, much like those she captures in fleeting moments of life and humanity across Latin America. “If I don’t live the moment as it should be lived, things won’t unfold.”

Marie-Laure de Decker
One Last Visit
With sheer audacity, she secured her earliest assignments for Newsweek upon arriving in Vietnam – years before falling in love with Chad. The life of this fearless photojournalist, who passed away in 2023, was a series of firsts: the first female photographer at the Gamma agency, the first to capture an image of newly elected French President Giscard d’Estaing…

Joel Meyerowitz
Coming of Age Through 1960s Europe
From a museum in Paris to a gallery in New York, from the Rencontres d’Arles to a bookstore in Bologna, our editor kept crossing paths with Joel Meyerowitz for decades – without ever approaching him. Until one bright summer day in southern Spain – a candid conversation ensued.

Andy Sweet
Back to the Color of Life
He met a tragic end – murdered in 1982 by two desperate men searching for cocaine. Yet, before his death, he had time to capture thousands of photographs of Jewish senior citizens basking in the Miami sun, radiating a vibrant, untold joy. A lost trove, painstakingly restored, now exhibited to wide acclaim – a triumph of memory.

Elliott Landy
Bob, Janis, Joe, Grace, and the Rest…
We’ve seen his legendary photographs of Bob Dylan countless times, rarely pausing to consider the man behind the lens. A chance encounter leads us to Elliott Landy, and what starts as a brief exchange unfolds into hours of enthralling stories – stretching from Woodstock to the present day.

Vivian Maier
A Double Life
Who was Vivian Maier? What was her life? Why was her incredible work recognized worldwide years after her death? Two biographies – one by American writer Ann Marks, the other by French author Françoise Perron – offer contrasting perspectives. Two books, two investigations, two visions of a woman whose life remains intriguing.

Jérôme de Perlinghi
King Size Revival
For over a decade, he has orchestrated a major photography festival in Wilson, North Carolina. A native of Belgium and a photographer by trade, De Perlinghi mobilizes city officials and private donors to transform the streets into an annual celebration of the photographic arts. A success that contributes to the city’s revival.

Kourtney Roy
Last Paradise in Rimini
A project blending photography with an original musical composition – that was the challenge taken up by Kourtney Roy and Mathias Delplanque, winners of the Prix Swiss Life à 4 Mains. A road trip through a Rimini abandoned by tourists, drenched in a surreal, post-apocalyptic color palette. We had to see it firsthand, in the thick of creation. We did not regret it.

Russ Melcher
An American in Paris, the Prime of Photojournalism
An email from his son, Paul Melcher, arrived from New York: “Do you know my father, Russell? You should! He was a photographer, then editor-in-chief at Magnum. We’ve published a book about him. Oh, and just because he’s American doesn’t mean he lives in the U.S.! If you want to meet him, head to Carcassonne.”
